Online Movie Reviews
Online movie reviews continue to grow in popularity as more and more people buy computers and start logging onto the Internet. It’s not unthinkable to imagine a time where traditional newspapers will have gone the way of the dodo, so anyone looking for the latest film reviews will have to do it on their computer. In order to make your life a bit simpler, I’ve compiled a list of some of the online movie reviews available to cinema fans. These range from the comedic to the ultra-serious, but each site has its own merits.
Cranky Critic – Founded by Chuck Schwartz, a former NBC radio employee, Cranky Critic bases their ratings on how much a film is worth paying for. A superior movie, for example, would get an $8 rating, while a film only worth renting would be scored $3. The lowest rating is a zero, but few works reach this unfathomable level. The site also makes every effort to get reviews from people who fit a film’s demographic. If the movie is aimed at kids, you might expect to read a review of the film from a pre-teen. The site has a movie forum, and a number of cool downloads are also available.
Horror Movie Reviews – While this site offers horror movie news, a horror forum and the sexy ladies of horror, it also features a huge database of film reviews. The rating system ranges from one to ten skulls, with 10 skulls being the best. Just a few of the films you’ll find reviewed there include The Final Destination, Black Devil Doll and Tokyo Gore Police.
Sci-Fi Movie Reviews – If you’re a fan of science fiction, you’ll want to check out this film review website devoted entirely to the genre. News, rumors and scripts are present on the site, plus movie trailers and a forum. Sci-Fi films are also recommended by the decade, starting way back in the 1950s. From Babylon A.D. to Zardoz, Sci-Fi Movie Reviews has everything you’re looking for.
The Sky Kid – With sections devoted to music, literature, technology and art, The Sky Kid is a blog with plenty of variety. It also offers online movie reviews, as well as the massive “Ultimate Coming of Age Movie List.” For those who like to sample a little of everything, this site is perfect.
Catholic Christian Movie Reviews – Movie news and movie reviews are offered with a Catholic perspective. Many people of faith have complained that they have a hard time finding film reviews that focus on the morality and underlying message of the movie. That’s where this site comes in. If you’re not a devout Catholic, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.
That’s five quality sites where you can get your fill of online movie reviews. If you liked this list, you might also enjoy the following posts:
