Free Movie Reviews
I’m sorta cheap, so I really dig free movie reviews. The reviews you can find for free on the Internet are just as good as if you’d purchased a magazine or newspaper, and often they’re the exact same thing. Most periodicals are online these days, so you can save several bucks by hopping on the Internet instead of going to your local newsstand. When I’m after free movie reviews, here are just a few of the sources I turn to.
Movie Review Query Engine – All the latest movie reviews are compiled at this site for your convenience. In addition to the free movie reviews, the MRQE also offers news on film festivals, staff picks, a summer movie guide, and a list of the best and worst movies available to rent or buy.
Qwipster’s Movie Reviews – Over 2,750 movies have been reviewed on this site, and it also features a forum, reader mail, and a list of the top 10 films of each year since 1972.
Variety – A trade magazine for the entertainment industry, Variety provides all your film, music and television needs in one place. Todd McCarthy is perhaps their most well-known critic, but you can also read free movie reviews from Derek Elley, Peter Debruge and Robert Koehler. It really doesn’t get any better than this informative site.
Killer Movie Reviews – Andrea Chase is one of my favorite film critics, and her website contains a wide array of quality cinematic critiques. Andrea offers her thoughts on all the latest movies, plus DVD and Blu-ray disc reviews. Contests and giveaways are routinely held, and she also has a POV section dedicated to films deserving of a closer look.
Entertainment Weekly – While Entertainment Weekly is a great publication, you can get much of the content online for free. Their movie critics, Owen Gleiberman and Lisa Schwarzbaum, are especially good. Each week, they’ll provide insight on the latest films to hits theaters, and there are also plenty of thought-provoking articles to peruse.
