Better Off Dead (1985)
By Shane Rivers
Lane Myer (Cusak) can’t seem to get anything right, so much so that he repeatedly botches attempts to kill himself. And he’ll have to prove himself on the ski slopes just to win back some of his self-respect.
A longtime favorite that only came out on video in the late 1990’s. Still a Cusak standout, Better Off Dead has all the laughs and outrageous characters you’ll want in a film like this. The dancing hamburger scene is a classic. Just about everyone who was young in the 80’s should have this one.
Directed by Steve Holland.
