2. Million Dollar Baby - (2004, Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman) Clint Eastwood is a boxing trainer who teaches a persistent Hilary Swank how to fight. 
3. Boys on the Side - (1995, Whoopi Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, Mary-Louise Parker, Matthew McConaughey) Three mismatched women travel across the country and endure love and loss. They make a home in Arizona and realize the strength and power of their friendship. You'll need plenty of tissue. 
4. Steel Magnolias - (1989, Julia Roberts, Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah) Revolving around Truvy's Beauty Parlor in a small parish in Louisiana, the movie is about a close-knit circle of friends whose lives come together there. 

5. Terms of Endearment - (1983, Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson, John Lithgow, Jeff Daniels) An intimate mother daughter relationship. Oscar for best picture, adapted screenplay and director (James L. Brooks).
